FATTORIA DI CALAPPIANO
Pugnitello is integral to the company's initiative to revive traditional Tuscan grape varieties, emphasizing the importance of heritage and reconnecting with the region's rich terrain. This ancient Tuscan grape variety has unknown genetic roots. Its compact cluster, reminiscent of a clenched fist, inspired the vine's name. This adaptable wine, crafted following the tenets of organic farming by Fattoria di Calappiano, thrives on the hills surrounding Vinci. Positioned roughly 150 meters above sea level, the vineyards benefit from soil abundant in marine fossils and skeletal fragments. It ferments for approximately 15 days at 20-26°C, followed by maceration for 15 days at 27-28°C in steel. Following malolactic fermentation, it ages in steel for about 6 months and rests on fine lees. Crafted from Pugnitello grapes, this wine boasts a ruby hue, boasting aromas of violet and sweet spices, complemented by undertones of underbrush and balsamic herbs. Each sip is delicate and refined, characterized by vibrant and crisp tannins.
