An ancient legend of valiant knights and their faithful squires.

The Abbey of Sant’Antimo stands on Montalcino’s hills, hidden among the vines and olive trees that extend as far as the eye can see. The legend goes that in 771, Emperor Charlemagne, returning from Rome with his troops, stopped on the hillock in front of the Abbey. Here the troops found relief by treating themselves with medicinal plants cultivated by the Benedictine monks and drinking from a spring with therapeutic properties. This secret place owes its Poggio Scudieri name to the pilgrims, merchants, soldiers, and squires who stopped here passing along the Via Francigena.

Poggio Scudieri: the Montalcino wines with an authentic character.

Officium wines from Poggio Scudieri were born from these ancient lands rich in history and covered by vineyards to celebrate the ancestral bond between man and nature.

Officium, the Latin name, is a tribute to the duty and loyalty of the squires. The label, with its simple and straightforward design, is a tribute to the splendid tower of the Abbey and its surroundings, while the roots symbolize the bond between the land and its people. Finally, the gold color reminds of the magnificent golden backgrounds of medieval miniatures and the reflection of sunlight on the shields of the knights and their squires when they finally reached this place of peace.

Officium wines from Poggio Scudieri by their authenticity embody loyalty to tradition and respect for nature.
